   In healing up from the latest illness that has kept me inactive , I'm taking the down time at home to catch up on some gaming.  I've pretty much finished up with school for good and decided to reach out to my friends to play some games.  But, in being too busy to keep up with trends I have been left behind in a sense with the new consoles.  Granted, I never planned on jumping on that wagon and still plan on holding off for a bit but my main gaming buddies seemed to have moved on. Mostly playing single player. What's a guy to do?  I don't really have the cash to blow on a "now" generation console as I am still enjoying a long list of un-played games on my PS3 and Xbox 360.  So who do I play with?  Then, I remembered those guys that I used to tease because they were too busy raising families and spending money on things that were necessary before jumping on the gaming band wagons at the time.  The guys that bought Gears of War for...

   Being pretty busy I do not have the time I would like to get into games the way I used to.  For that reason I have a huge back log list of games I would like to play.  The next-gen console wars are going full blast and are about to be released so I have decided to remove myself from that since I am so behind.  But, I can't not get anything either so...I went with the cheapest alternative, The Gamestick.  Packaging was really well done. I had first heard about the Gamestick through its  Kickstarter campaign  and it is one of three things I backed just to see what it was like to fund something that you would hope could be potentially successful.  I received my Kickstarter edition Gamestick just this week and so far...I have yet to play a game as I type this. Fully charged!!! With your Gamestick console you get a lot of accessories, for set up, storage options, and charging.  Let me tell you, it has to be charged 100%...

     When you read those "Better Late Than Never" reviews here and here , usually ones about games the reason they're being done late is because I happen to still be working on my degree.  Along with that I have a full time job, a relationship, friends, family, other hobbies that get in the way that time just doesn't allow for me to throw down with my friends on line or a single player game like I used to.  While it has made my purchasing games easier and cheaper , I still get left behind on some games. These are only some of the one's I have to finish/start. For me, the biggest reason I have fallen so far behind is school but it made me wonder if it happens to other casual gamers.  I know it shouldn't apply to hardcore gamers, after all that's what makes them hardcore but for the older gamers like myself, we get busy and we fall behind.  I am so far behind, my decision to not jump on a next generation console was brought on by looking at ...

     Next gen console rumors, news, wars and what have you mean nothing...if you only just got a current gen console last spring.  So while you choose to wait out the release dates, games lists, and over all winner of the next gen console dilemma you have plenty of current generation games you can play on the cheap (mostly) while you're biding your time.  If you just got a PS3, IGN just released their list of the top 25 games for that console here .  There's also a new blurb for the Xbox One here  from Engadget, and it's being able to support 8 controllers (cuz Xbox Live doesn't hold enough players?) Patient or anxious? Damage control for Xbox One.      Some of the announcements for the Xbox One turned a lot of people sour towards the product and in response to this Microsoft has back peddled and are stating the restrictions that were going to be imposed will no longer be an issue.  This can be viewed as a good sign for a company that listens to those they wish to do business with, even though for a minute it seemed they weren't listening.      Is the fact that this company is admitting its mistake and proposing fixes for some of the things that bothered us good enough for you to consider buying the Xbox One?  Admitting a mistake or issuing an apology can help change minds, it worked with me when Netflix was upsetting people with their dual accounts and the "Qwikster" idea.  I was about to cancel the service until they realized the error of their ways and fixed it .  I know I was happy enough with what Netflix did to fix their issues and ...

100 dollars less...after a price drop I'm sold.      I took a game theory class a few terms back and ever since I notice the moves these companies make in playing against one another, Nintendo was actually used as an example in one of the lectures.  It's only one hundred dollars less than the Xbox One but 100 bucks is 100 bucks and the more consoles that occupy peoples homes seems to determine the titles that get released on what consoles to some degree.  Xbox One seems to be the one not to go with with judging by negative views on social media because of all the restrictions they are putting on the console so far with used games and being on line.      Sony's doing the opposite (so it seems) for less money and may make people treat Sony like it's the good old PS2 days, when they were at their best.  They lost me at launch of the PS3 when it was $600 but it looks like they learned from their mistake.  I don't know ...

     I was away for a while on vacation but all the next gen console buzz seems to have died down due to the lack of info or interest.  I don't know but I read something earlier that made it seem like we're all waiting for The Electronic Entertainment Expo better known as E3 for more details to make a better informed decision on which way our hard earned money will go.     I've already decided on what I'm doing for next gen console stuff , but that has not removed my interest in the subject.  E3 is next week so we're sure to hear more on the subject but other than people raging on what may or may not be included I have not read anything new.  I have been waiting on my backer edition of The Game Stick so I can write a review on it to see if it has any chance of being a new alternative to console gaming and it's supposed to get to me before the end of the month according to the emails I keep getting so that'll be up as soon as I think I have d...

     I think Microsoft's Xbox one may have overshot whatever they were going for, it's really big looking and personally I couldn't care about Kinect.  I have the add on device for my 360 but from what I read it's going to be required.  The reason I haven't used it yet is because when I come home tired from working out at my dojo or gym, I'm too tired to be moving around for my gaming.  I praise the device for getting sedentary people to move around and burn some calories but I don't have that problem.     Gaming is my escape from the daily grind, its relaxing for me, even when I'm yelling at the bad guys on screen.  At least we see what the whole package is going to look like, Sony showed us a controller with a touch pad on it which is cool too.  I always liked the PlayStation controller layout especially for the PS2 which seems to be the model for them now.  I wonder if the actual console is bigger or smaller compared to the X...

     COST!!! What's the MSRP? We know it's not going to be cheap, Sony wanted $600 for their PS3 when it came out and the Xbox 360 wasn only about 100 bucks cheaper. That's the most I have ever paid for a console and too close to the cost of rent and other things I probably need more than I need a new console.    Get ready to break the piggy banks.         If you go on Amazon and search for new titles for the upcoming fall you'll see PS4 price listings of $100.  Thats for a game, that you'll probably finish in 10-15 hours until they push out some DLC you'll have to pay for.  I hope enough people make known what is an acceptable price to the average gamer like myself.  Games of the current generation are already making us pinch our pennies enough with  $59.99 price tag.  I know a lot of gamers are adults with jobs and kids that they want to get games for too but we, the consumers, should dict...

All of the sudden, Sony showed off their new controller..excuse me...made the PS4 announcement.  I guess Steve Jobs started this thing wher they show you a small electronic device and tell you how innovative it will be and people buy into that, not me though.  Sony ticked me off with the PS3 when it came out by charging rent level prices for it when it was released and I was a serious PS2 fan boy too. I got in on the current gen consoles late and I'll probably do the same for the next wave of new consoles. I have about 3 games to play and finsih on the PS3, and one I'm looking forward to ( God of War Ascension ) and, ....I just got my PS3!!!   My Xbox, which I have had for a while I love.  I use it for Netflix, I use it to play with my friends on line, I use it for all the popular sinlge player open world games.  I also have several games for that I need to tackle and finish, Red Dead Redemption , XCOM , L.A.
