Simon Pegg's Farewell to George A. Romero

Romero Venice 2011 On this site, where horror is one of our favorite genre's of film to watch the news hit us pretty hard. Having had the pleasure of meeting some of the player's in George Romero's best-known films, it is hard to believe the man that created the zombie genre that is ever so popular now is gone. Not everyone gets to meet their icons, but Simon Pegg did and in his blog, he reminds folks that with Romero's passing let us not forget that he is the true king of the zombie genre. "George A. Romero invented the modern zombie. Not the comedy variants that moan for, 'Braaaains' or the squealing raptor like super zombies of later years, both of which are descendants of George’s original dead baby. George gave us patient zero." -Simon Pegg Sad news for #horror fans @njhorrorcon @iHorrorNews @FatherEvil72 @D_E_M_O_N_I_X https://t.co/9r17VD6PPR — The Blogboard Jungle (@B_Boardjungle) July 16, 2017 If you haven't had the cha...

Revisiting Spaced (1999-2001)

This show doesn't need a review. If you are a fan of the work of Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost you already know this UK sitcom was what put them in everyone's pop-culture radar. This series is what lead them to making Sean of the Dead (2004) and the rest of The Cornetto Trilogy . The series is pretty deep when you get past all the laughs, sci-fi, horror, and video game references. It focuses on the struggle a lot of people go through in their young adult lives. The transition into adulthood is a rough one and when you look at what the show revolves around, it's about those struggles. Breaking up, finding a place to live, finding success, finding a job, finding love and the importance of a strong support system around you. Even though the show is based in the UK, it can represent the struggle a lot of gen-exer's go through anywhere. If you are in the struggle of just trying to to make your way in the world, Spaced serves as a nice way to get you throug...

Is Alfred Hitchcock the Easter Egg in Films Orginator?

Easter eggs in media are hidden messages or inside jokes that the targeted audience gets when placed strategically to be noticed by them but are not outright noticeable.  I can't think of when I first started noticing them or even when they initially became trendy to do.  The most prominent ones that come to mind today would be all of Stan Lee's cameos in the Marvel films.  It's something people tend to get excited about when they see them so when did it become a cool thing to do?      I have been following the Bates Motel series on A&E and decided to rent Psycho since I have not seen it since I was a kid.  I like re-watching things from when I was kid since I am watching it with a better mind set for understanding as an adult.  This was the DVD collectors edition of Psycho so I decided to check out the special features on the disc about the making of the film.  It's a pretty lengthy documentary but one...
