The Walking Dead Season 7 Off to a Good Start

The Walking Dead has not been written about much here. Partly because of a slight case of "nerd rage" in regards to how some characters translated from print to the small screen. There have been some really awesome characters in the books that were ruined on the TV show. Characters like Carl, Andrea, and Tyreese were so well written that when something happened to them in the books, you were concerned the way TV fans get now over what happened in the season seven opener. However, with Jeffrey Dean Morgan playing Negan it looks like season seven will finally be the one that brings back those that only watched the last 20 minutes of an episode because that's when something significant would happen. We tried to start a poll on how they would play Negan's true introduction and thankfully only two people voted, probably because they did not drag out what Negan did that everyone was waiting six months for. Do you think #TheWalkingDeadSeason7Premiere will show wh...

The 'Fear' formula makes for good TV

Have you been watching Containment ? It's about a viral epidemic that breaks loose in Atlanta and starts sending everyone into a fear induced frenzy of looting, and not trusting one another, and surviving by any means necessary. Sound familiar? It should, because it has all the makings of you typical zombie outbreak. The similarities between The Walking Dead and Containment might be obvious to some, but if you think they're not this is what seems similar: Both take place in Atlanta Both deal with some type of virus threatening mankind Both have focus on how humanity can help/hurt one another during an apocalyptic epidemic. Both feature a member of law enforcement in a troubled, leadership role. That's not to say the CW show is a bad rip-off. The good part about it is that it is showing society's breakdown from the outbreak stage. It also helps to know it is only a six-part series so fans know there will be an end to it. The Zombie genre is a favorite o...

Fear The Walking Dead: Ep.2 recap/review

It's getting worse.  Not the show, the outbreak occurring in the show that sets up the "before" portion of what lead to everything happening AMC's hit show The Walking Dead . The early stages of unrest have begun, one character knows how to prepare and if he's as smart as he seems. The others will listen to him. Although this is the very beginning of the outbreak that creates the zombies, no hint has been given as to where its coming from. Also getting worse is communications, law enforcement, and civilization as a whole along with Alicia babysitting her brother's withdrawal. Nothing will clean up a junkie faster than a zombie in a crack house. The virus being new in the universe still has people unaware of how to stop a zombie coming at them. This was displayed by Tobias, the doomsday expert mentioned earlier that tried to fend off the zombified school principal while gathering supplies. The family separates to try and gather other members of the f...

Rest in Peace Asbury Park Zombie Walk

The Asbury Park Zombie Walk has broken records and become a recent NJ tradition in recent years. With shows like The Walking Dead making the zombie genre more popular, its infection every October grew larger and larger. All good things must come to an end, and New Jersey's greatest zombie event has finally met its demise. It's no secret here that horror and Halloween have a home here on  +The Blogboard Jungle  , so when things like this happen it makes us sad. Jason Meehan, the founder of the walk left the following message on Facebook to explain why it has died: My Dear Zombies,I am aghast as I sit here, trying to find the most gentle way to write these words to you... but there... Posted by New Jersey Zombie Walk on  Thursday, August 20, 2015 It's not like it was the only one in existence, but it was one of the biggest ones in New Jersey. October is a pretty good time in the Garden State and there are plenty of horror themes conventions and 5K runs...

Fear The Walking Dead review

The Walking Dead has become one of the biggest fandoms since the show aired. It already had a decent following from a series of comic books it is based on. Fandoms are odd, if something changes too drastically or written poorly, they can be rather harsh on the newer medium.  +The Blogboard Jungle  is guilty of this in regards to the show, The Walking Dead . That's why it is not written about often here. However, their is a fix for that, and the people that write for this site. Enter, Fear The Walking Dead , a brand new story with nothing to compare it against, from a period not even mentioned in the books. Also, its an outbreak story. If the zombie genre is done well, the story usually takes place during an outbreak. Some of the best zombie films take place during the outbreak, this looks to be a show dedicated to stories like that. The show is also dedicated to building characters for fans to follow and these characters are brand new to everyone. New characters that ...

AMC's Fear the Walking Dead coming soon

Photo: Justin Lubin/AMC The Walking Dead on AMC has become the network's biggest success. Even if fans of the books have issues with the way the show went the network is bringing something for them too. Fear the Walking Dead is a spin off show that is original for television so there will be nothing to spoil for anyone. New characters, new location, and it is an outbreak story. Photo: Justin Lubin/AMC That's right. Want to know what happened the whole time Rick Grimes was comatose? This show will attempt to fill in a gap not explained in the books or TV show. It will be a fresh look at a genre loved here at  +The Blogboard Jungle  but is in danger of being played out. Sneak Peak photos from official site Fear the Walking Dead | AMC

The Walking Dead mid-season finale where some fans divide.

As a fan of horror and zombies in particular, it may seem odd that I never write anything about The Walking Dead on AMC.  I'm a very big fan of the books, when I took a break from comics it was Image comics free on line issue of The Walking Dead #1 that brought me back to the hobby.  Back then, there was a lot of buzz about it being a TV show but it was only talk at the time.  When I heard AMC was picking it up I was super excited and started talking it up to people because I wanted it to be as popular as it is but after a few changes in creative with the show something went wrong, (other than Andrea ) and I lost interest. No one else did, and if you dare speak ill of the show then thicken your skin because when things are pointed out people can get very offended.  I read a Buzzfeed article that mentioned a lot that I thought was true in regards to the show dragging , making cool characters in the book very dumb on the show, and some other points of ...

Walking Dead Spin off

Brand new stories for brand new fans according to CNN's entertainment blog , and Kirkma will be at the helm. “The opportunity to make a show that isn't tethered by the events of the comic book, and is truly a blank page, has set my creativity racing.” he says in the article. No more Andrea, yay. That has been my beef with the show, I am a fan of the books and I admit I let the show changes bother me.  It's the same with anything that ahs a strong fanbase, when they change the medium it comes in and try to attract new fans, the loyal ones can sometimes be bothered by the small changes. This has been brought up here before in reference to books being made into movies , and it seem when the transition happens we should take it with a grain of salt. But, something new in the same world...how can we not wanna love it?
