Mayweather vs. McGregor gets the "Punch Out" treatment

The biggest and most hyped boxing match in recent history has come and gone, but that doesn't mean folks can't make a parody out of it. UFC Fighter Edits made a video cutting together the best moments of the historic match up with some of Nintendo Classic's "Punch-Out" game. Mayweather vs McGregor: Final Press Conference

It's finally here. This weekend will have the most hyped boxing match in the sports recent history. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. (49-0 Boxing) and Conor McGregor (0-0 Boxing, 21-3 MMA) will face off in what has been the strangest of matchings in combat-sports. There is no varied rule set that would in any way point to Mayweather not doing well, yet this is being marketed as a fighter versus fighter match. Some see it as MMA vs. Boxing but it is far from that when it is only boxing rules. Needless to say, one final press conference is under way today. Because those last four weren't enough, right?

Mayweather vs McGregor: Floyd Mayweather Media Conference Call

Yesterday's conference call featured Conor McGregor and Dana White. If you missed that, you can catch here . Today is Mayweather's turn for media:

Do 8oz gloves really matter for Mayweather vs. McGregor

For those interested, yesterday the Nevada State Athletic Commission voted on the approval of the use of 8oz boxing gloves for the high profile boxing event taking place on August 26. Floyd Mayweather Jr. will be facing Conor McGregor what has been dubbed "The Money Fight". However, this isn't anything new. Mayweather has been in bouts with 8oz gloves before and you can read more about that at Frontproof Media . The site's founder called into the MMA Afterthought podcast to discuss it further: If you liked this podcast and would like to subscribe it's available on iTunes & Google Play .

Mayweather vs McGregor: Conor McGregor Media Conference Call

Floyd Mayweather says he owes the fans

Floyd Mayweather was on Kimmy Kimmel's show to promote his upcoming bout against Conor McGregor on August 26. The boxing match is being called "The Money Fight" since it has the undefeated boxing champion coming out of retirement to face the current lightweight champion of the UFC. While hardcore boxing and mixed martial arts fans see it as a circus, Mayweather believes otherwise. Mayweather's last fight was against Andre Berto in September of 2015. Before that, he faced Manny Pacquiao in what is considered one of the biggest pay-per views in recent boxing history. However, his last two bouts were perceived by many as anticlimactic for the final bouts of his career. "I feel I owe it the fans. Pacquiao and I didn't give them a blockbuster, me and McGregor should give them a blockbuster." -Floyd Mayweather See the segment here:

Two More Mayweather vs. McGregor Events Left

Photo: Barclay's Center UFC 208| Ed Carbajal Then all we have to do is wait for August 26. Outside of a few different jabs, the rhetoric has been pretty much the same. They have told each other what to do, and where to go and how to get there. "F-you!" is a popular one between the two, more so from McGregor but that doesn't mean it isn't fun to watch. However, at the end of the day, this is a boxing match, and the boxer will likely win. It is not a fight in the sense of the word as we know it today and the difference between a fight and a boxing match are two different things. It was brought up during the first two press events so far so it should make for an interesting conversation after today's presser in New York. If you want to hear more about fight vs. boxing subject you can listen to that below: The truth is, when this thing is over both men are walking away with a lot of money. Are there any losers here? After today the final one i...

Mayweather vs. McGregor Press Tour Day 1

That was an odd press conference, wouldn't you say? Yesterday, combat sports fans had their taste of the first press event this week that is supposed to get fans pumped for the August 26 bout in the T-Mobile Arena next month. Boxing and MMA press conferences usually flow pretty well but this one was a little different. It had Aloe Blacc perform a number, a Hall of Fame ring announcer to introduce the promoter of each fighter, who then introduced the fighters that seemed unprepared for their speeches. You can listen to the complete rundown here: Check out this list of quotes from the Los Angeles event over at Frontproof Media . Part two goes down today in Toronto and you catch it here .
