Is Rizin as good as Pride FC?

The first show for what many are referring to as the new "Pride FC", Rizin did their first New Years Eve Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was a staple for Pride Fighting Championships until the promotion went under in 2007. With many of the same decision makers behind Pride putting on Rizin Fighting Federation events, it was no surprise to see many of the same fighters from the days of Pride. But how was it? Were you impressed? It was definitely one of the best looking MMA events in recent Japanese MMA history but was it enough to make you chase the sport the way Pride FC did when they were competing with the UFC? Hard to tell with only one show, but most long-time MMA fans were excited to watch and having Fedor Emilanenko in the main event was cool, even if he fought an unknown 2-0 fighter. The UFC has done a good job of saturating the US market and establishing themselves as the upper tier promotion for MMA. Could Rizin’s attempt to come back be too little too late? It’s n...

What's Your New Year's Eve/Day Binge?

Photo: CBS It's the end of the year, it's cold, and you may be going out to celebrate or stay home. Regardless of how you celebrate there will be a point where there is nothing to do but watch TV. For years broadcasts of TV shows air on New Year's eve and New Year's day to fill your recovery time to get ready for a new year. What will you binge on? The Twilight Zone will always be number one here but, are there any recommendations for a new binge?  Maybe to take a colorized break?  Please comment below and Have a Happy New Year!

Happy New Year 2014, what did you binge watch?

Another year done and a new one to look forward to. After trying the traditional New Years Eve in New York City it got me thinking about my real new years eve tradition.  The Twilight Zone marathon before during and after the festivities. Talky Tina, a classic scare in the episode, Living Doll . For as long as I've been alive every new years eve/day and fourth of July I love to sit through these.  As I was getting ready for my adventurous night out to ring in the new year a friend texted me about a sale on Amazon where I could buy the complete collection for half price.  I was about to jump on it when I thought it would take away from their special place these stories have in my heart.  Rod Serling is one of my all time favorite story tellers and he had a great passion for the craft of story telling that even other great story tellers like Breaking Bad 's Vince Gilligan recognize when they speak of what legacy they hope their storie...

2014 Goal setting

Most of the things you'll read here have to do with simple pleasures, movies, what's on TV, some video game I stayed up late playing a few nights.  But, I am actually pretty physically active with, working out, yoga, and martial arts.  I've been training about half my life in martial arts and the reason why I love it is because there is never an end point, you always look to better yourself. I ran into this video and figured I would share it with everyone; it's pretty motivational and inspiring.  If I weren't at work I'd be at my school training for the 2nd time today, which the video brings up around after 2 minutes.  Check it out, and get motivated in the New Year:
