UFC Fight Night London: Official Weigh-in

Anderson Silva at the MMA Expo in NYC UFC Fight Night: London has a main event between Anderson Silva and Michael Bisping. Bisping has never been beaten on his native soil and seems to want to make an example of Silva. Silva last fought Nick Diaz after coming back from a horrific injury and thinks he can make his way back to the top. Both men are at a point in their careers where they only need to prove something to themselves. The event is this weekend on Fight Pass and you can check out the weigh-ins below. Bellator 154 light heavyweight contender bout announced

Photo: Bellator MMA During Bellator 149 it was announced that Muhammed "King Mo" Lawal (19-4-1) and Phil Davis (15-3-1)will face each other to see who gets a shot at Light-heavyweight Champion Liam Mcgeary. Davis won the the tournament at the Dynamite event last year and it was for the winner to face McGeary. However, Lawal was injured after his win in the first round of the tournament and could not continue. Lawal came back to win the inaugural Rizin event on New Years Eve and won the tournament portion of that show. Both men, meant to face each other out of a tournament format now get to face each other for a shot at the title. This fight should have happened at Dynamite but will go down this May. “Bellator 154: Davis vs. King Mo” takes place on May 14, and airs live on SPIKE at 9 p.m. ET /8 p.m. CT

Deadpool (2016) review

Rated 'R' Rarely does Hollywood get it right when bringing a new franchise from another medium to the big screen. Deadpool (2016) was the perfect example of what happens when you let people that know and love a franchise have a full creative control. Ryan Reynolds had been trying to get this film made for a while and it looks like all the hard work is paying off with this film. It's hard to tell a story about a character that knows he is a character in a film. When the word came out about a Deadpool film it  was probably hard to imagine how one could be made about character that breaks the fourth wall as often as Deadpool does. Rest assured comic book fans, Reynolds does a great job bringing everything that people love about Deadpool to the big screen. The classification of an action/comedy has definitely changed with this movie. The action is superb and the comedy coming from "the merc with a mouth" is almost non-stop, even when the film makes an attempt...

Film review: Jiu-Jitsu vs.The World

Often on this site, the sport of MMA gets written about. Weigh-ins go up, things happening in the sport's battle for legalization in New York get posted. But nothing ever goes so deep into the realm of combat sports and all the positive things that exist in it. If you remember the very first UFC, Royce Gracie put a then, not so well known martial art on the map we now know as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Eat Films crowd funded some money to put together a documentary on the martial art that pretty much made the sport of MMA fight fans watch today. New practitioners and long time ones can see how deep the martial art effects the lives of people that have decided to open their lives to it. This film does that and if you are into Jiu-Jitsu or the sport of MMA at all you'll want to sit through this one over and over. It's always hard to explain what it is about something you know you will want to do for the rest of your life. People that don't practice or understand will a...

Benson Henderson opens up on move to Bellator

Welcome to the family @BensonHenderson #BellatorNation pic.twitter.com/OT7YVYdB74 — Scott Coker (@ScottCoker) February 1, 2016 Benson Henderson recently did an interview with Newsday.com and talked about his move to Bellator. The interview is pretty detailed and he is not someone that has ever been shy about his opinions. If anything it was informative on how MMA fighters have to negotiate their terms for the work they do in the cage. One of the things that made a "huge impact" on his decision to leave was the Reebok deal. If you listened to our podcast last fall, we had a financial analyst look at the deal and break down some numbers for the pay-outs. Henderson gave his own break down in his interview with Newsday and said he was losing out. “That made a huge, huge impact on the deal. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t play into the deal. Reebok deal, we’ll see how it plays out, it’s playing out to mediocre fanfare so far. For me, I’m one of the fighters who los...

Funny Sage Northcutt parody

For the record, I think Sage Northcutt has the potential to be great. He's young enough and talented enough to build his skill set and grow as a martial artist. I said so in the latest podcast , and his loss in Newark, NJ or any fighter's loss is s good learning experience. HOWEVER...this is still pretty funny. Rarely is there ever an opportunity to reference a horror film and mash it with MMA when its not related to the tiny bit of violence that happens in competition. This parody is using the scene from Pet Semetery (1989) to point to the loss of one of the fighters the UFC was trying to market to fans as the next big thing. JASON BOURNE - First Look trailer

Click the image if you want to pick up the first three films. Lots of commercials played on Super Bowl Sunday but only a few may matter to you. One that mattered to us (besides Deadpool ) was the one for the latest "Bourne" related film, simply titled Jason Bourne . There are few films that can be better than the book but these Bourne films seem to be one of the few that got it right. There was a fourth film with Jeremy Renner called The Bourne Legacy but it was a poor attempt to milk a franchise that needs Matt Damon playing the title character. Using the character's last name seemed to work out since when the film was released, it managed to debut at a number 1 spot in the box office in August of 2012. If you missed Damon in the role, it looks like you won't have to wait long to seem him pissed off and beating folks up.  If you didn't catch the trailer check it our below: Looks like they go to Vegas!!!

Carbazel MMA Podcast after two UFC Fight Night's

Ed talks about his night at the Prudential Center for the UFC in Newark and how it has become harder to watch Bellator in 2016. A quick recap on Wonderboy's win over what used to be UFC 196 turned UFC Fight Night and how Fight Pass is really worth getting. He also complains about the cold and how winter sucks in NJ.

Attention parents! Deadpool is rated 'R'

That means, it's not intended for you to bring your kiddies to. Please don't complain when it comes out this weekend that it has somehow scarred your children. That is what the 'R' rating exists to tell you. The film is not made for your kids if you have to tell them to watch their mouths. Deadpool is known as "the Merc with a mouth" for a reason. This happens in the video game industry all the time , some parent will unwillingly buy their kid the latest Grand Theft Auto because they are begging for it.  The MPAA exists to inform those that want to avoid anything offensive, so please take heed of the rating. The film was made for fans of the character and we are all adults that know what to expect. If you want to do some homework on the character, click the image above and pick up Marvel's complete collection on the character. We've been waiting a long time for this film and are looking forward to a successful release. See the latest trai...

Chris Leben is fighting and writing

It was recently announced that fan-favorite MMA fighter, Chris Leben has been recently signed to the growing roster over at Bellator MMA . When the news broke, those un-aware that he was coming back from retirement were skeptical of his motivation for doing so. Rest assured, Leben just loves fighting. Since his last fight in 2013 he has been busy writing his first book, hosting an MMA radio show, and coaching other fighters. “Focusing on just coaching at Victory MMA has been amazing, but recently, I started to get the itch to compete again,” Leben said. “So I extended an olive branch to the people at Bellator and here I am. I’m in great shape, I love the possible matchups this roster has to offer and I’m ready to show the world why they call me ‘The Crippler.’” You can read more about his signing and the other fighters that signed last week here . If you would like to purchase his book, "The Crippler: Cage Fighting and My Life on The Edge" click the above image t...

Jon Jones due in court again

The best light heavyweight to date in MMA is due back in court again this week after driving without a license, registration, or proof of insurance. Can we assume he made an honest mistake and simply forgot these items? Hopefully that is the case, but his record of automobile related incidents may not sit well with him in the court room. When courts see something that seems like familiar behavior, they tend to not let much slide. See the news footage below: Let's hope this doesn't ruin another pay-per-view. But more so, lets hope he has not lost his way as his in-cage performances are great for the sport. How will Palhares do in Polaris?

Remember Rousimar Palhares? He's fought in the UFC and WSOF and was suspended from both promotions for holding on to submissions too long. He has a long track record of doing that and has drawn ire in the Jiu-Jitso world too before he competed in MMA. However, with his options limited he will be facing Gary Tonon at Polaris in April according to their Facebook post. Both men are known for their leg locks and Tonon has faced MMA fighters with that claim before and submitted them. See the details in the post below: Hide yo legs, hide yo ankles...Garry "The Lion Killer" Tonon x Rousimar Palhares is going down at Polaris Pro 3, which...
