The Slap (2015) US Review

Photos from official NBC The Slap website The Slap on NBC is a remake of an Australian mini-series of the same name. It is apparently critically acclaimed and for that reason it got a US made version. Network TV in America must be hurting to make copies of shows from other places and NBC has been making some pretty odd production decisions lately. This show can be added to that list of oddities. If you don't want to go by what is written here than watch the first episode. The kid that gets slapped is hard not to want to slap and this version of the show almost sells it to the viewers. If it is supposed to make people re-think how kids are disciplined, they really did not think it through. By the time the titular "Slap" happens, you almost side with Spock  er...the Slapper played by Zachary Quinto. Quinto as the slapper Also, it takes place in Brooklyn in what seems like one of those neighborhoods where in the 70's and 80's if a kid was acting like ...

Better Call Saul, Ep. 1 & 2 Review

Officially Licensed T-Shirt When did prequels become a thing? Was it when Allen Moore wrote The Killing Joke ? Was it when Hollywood decided to make the Star Wars prequels? Where ever the idea came from, thank god it's happening for the story of Saul Goodman. Better Call Saul premiered this past Sunday and Monday in a two night premiere that seemed to being back all the addicts that were fans of Breaking Bad . Named for the advertising slogan of Walter White's consigliere , Saul Goodman the show follows the journey of how a lawyer struggling for success follows a dangerous road that will eventually lead him to the events in Breaking Bad .  Fans will remember, Saul seemed to have an out or an answer for most situations involving clients and himself. This show is the first inkling to what may have happened to anyone in the aftermath of the saga of Walter White. If you remember in the episode Granite State of Breaking Bad, Saul has a connection that helps people disap...

Poltergeist (2015) Remake Trailer

From official Facebook Page Yet another horror film has been re-made and due out this summer. Poltergeist (2015) is the remake of the original from 1982. Usually there can be some skepticism on whether or not a newer version will be any good but, Sam Raimi is attached to this one. Attached the way he was to the re-make of his own Evil Dead (2012 ) so we should reserve judgement. Fans of the original film often asked where Carol-Ann was during most of the film with only dialogue and imagination left to scare ourselves on top of the 80's level puppet effects. Re-making a horror film like this one may add to the story details that weren't possible back then. With today's special effects this could be one re-make that improves on an original. From Official Facebook Page One thing that looks like it may bother some fans of the original, no Tangea. Remember the medium brought in to help, "make this house clear"? Instead Jared Harris of Mad Men and Frin...

Google Might Be Making Their Own Uber

From Total Recall Uber's ride sharing service is pretty popular for its convenience and affordability. It's a nice way to get people where they need to be. People can get a cheap ride, people that like to drive can make money doing what they love all without much fuss than downloading an app. Supposedly, Google is thinking about getting in on the ride sharing business according to a report from Bloomberg . The difference is that it will use it's self driving cars in which Google is already ahead of the game on. Autonomous vehicles, GPS satellite mapping, drones, I think Sci-Fi has finally become a reality. No wonder people are watching Fantasy genres more... Are you worried? Having a complete stranger drive you to places including your home is worrisome but customers trust Uber checks the background of their drivers. How do you explain to a robot there's a better way to get someplace? Would you ride a driver-less car? Please comment below. Exclusive:Google ...

The Machine (2013) Review

Movie Poster Fans of Arrow should appreciate this film. It stars Caity Lotz who played Black Canary on the show but in this film she plays the title character in The Machine . The film takes place in a future where there is a cold war with China and scientists are working to make soldiers recyclable. A little slow to start the film takes its time to establish its main characters and build up to Lotz changing roles in the film. The story is pretty solid and builds up well to some decent action fans of her's from Arrow will appreciate. The effects in the film are very well done and it will make viewers wonder why they have not heard of the film if they are running into it now on +Netflix . Without ruining anything story related the action sequences in the film are fast paced, violent, and believable considering the story is sci-fi. This film is definitely worth viewing and re-watching if you felt it moved a long too slowly when you know what it all leads to. The Machine ...
