Channel Zero is the Syfy channel's version of American Horror Story. It is a horror anthology series and you know we like those here. Each season is set to be six episodes and a new story, this one is based on what can only be described as a ghost kids show called "Candle Cove" and some unsolved murders that happened around the time of its airing in 1988.
Mike Painter is a child psychologist that returns to his home town of Iron Hill because he wants to investigate the murder of his brother, who was one of the victims of the unsolved murders from 80's. At least that's what we're led to believe, there's a lot Painter doesn't share but will need to soon as the show moves on.
The kids show, "Candle Cove" that this season is titled for doesn't seem like something kids would want to watch. In the first episode there is a dinner conversation where Mike and his friends wife Jessica, remark on how the show gave her nightmares. Something has always been creepy about puppets and dolls in horror and the imagery we see of "Candle Cove" is no exception. The show its self keeps you interested, if a comparison needed to be made this season of Channel Zero is a cross between American Horror Story and Broadchurch. Both those shows are good and so far this one fits right in for Fall and Halloween.
It should be noted, "Candle Cove" is a creepypasta story from the web written by Kris Straub and this season of Channel Zero is being based on that. That's good news for you on-line creative horror folk, opportunities are out there and if you're a fan of short web fiction, this show deserves a look.
