Snow Day Games.

Recently got snowed in for a day and it gave me some decent time to play catch up on some video games I haven't had time to get to.  I don't know about you all, but as much of a pain it can be to be restricted to your home when the weather gets bad a part of me kind of likes it.  A lot of the games, movies and TV shows I don't get to watch normally get watched during these times and this recent storm made me reminisce about what I've done in the past to avoid succumbing to cabin fever.

That's a car under that mound.
This first snow was no big deal, and only kept me inside for the early part of the day but I still managed to throw down on the third part of the Uncharted series, which seems to be one of the most awesome series in a game I have played.  It's like having a box set of a film series that I  look forward to watching, only this is my first run since my PS3 is only a year old so I'm just now getting into that consoles exclusive games.  But, since I live in an area where winters can be rough and have been snowed in for more than a few days one game I played for most of that time was Fallout 3: Game of the Year Edition (the same year I got it on a really good deal).  I have yet to finish that one and plan on doing it soon but I'm saving it for the next big storm.  As long as the power stays on and the internet is connected when taking a break I catch up on whole seasons of shows I just don't have time for, yesterday I started American Horror Story: Asylum on +Netflix .  I saw the whole first season there so I'd rather just watch them that way when I can.  I still have my list of games I need to catch up on and I know there are probably a couple more storms on the way that will help pass the time.  By the way I don't rely only on video games and streaming entertainment, I have plenty of board games and books should the power get knocked out.  What do you do when you're snowed in? Better Late Than Never Review: All The Phantasm Movies

The Phantasm Series Shows Players Riding Out Their Passions I just recently watched all the Phantasm movies.  I watched the entire franchise in two days after not seeing any of the films since I was a kid. I know things are opening up and the weather is nice, but we're not quite out of the COVID-19 woods yet. Since that is the case I am still re-watching old horror flicks and catching ones I might have missed . The Phantasm series stretches to almost 40 years of horror, beginning in what I feel was the best time for horror films, the 80s. The first one, Phantasm (1979) came out when I was still wet behind the ears, barely a kid. I didn't even set eyes on it until the early 80s. All I could remember about the movie was "The Tall Man,' played by Angus Scrimm in all the films, those flying chrome-plated death spheres, and little dudes in cans.  Along with Scrimm, the film stars Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornberry, and Reggie Bannister. Baldwin plays Mike Pearson, who is the...

Brush Fire and How I Finished My First Novella

Brush Fire is the first of many stories that I hope to write. Photo by Patrick Fore on Unsplash Some years ago, in 2015 I attended the NJ Comic Expo . I was covering it for this site, to gain experience and get my feet wet covering events since it was something I knew I wanted to do for my freelance work. Writing is something I never thought I would get into, but I fell into it through my love for martial arts, reading, and film. It's why I made this site, so I can write about the things I love. By looking for things to write about, I found that my love for reading balances out with my love of writing. Usually, I do one, then the other but a lot of the writing I do is inspired by the work I do for combat sports. I don't want to be a one-trick pony. I want to evolve my writing and I'm always looking for ways to get better.  Some of my favorite stories in various mediums come from Stephen King . So, when I went looking for instruction on how he writes, I found his book ...
