Constantine : The Rage of Caliban

Photo from Constantine page on NBC . Last Friday's episode entitled  The Rage of Caliban had John and Chas investigate the murders of parents that left children orphaned. This episode's antagonist was an entity that possessed children and attacked the parents of the children it possessed .  It would then move on to a new body when the parents were killed. The episode had John and Chas minus Zed, who was simply written off as "being at art school".  This is probably a good move on the networks part because she was getting a little stale .  The banter between Chas and John worked well and if the show wants to find future success it would probably be a good idea to keep this formula going.  Hollywood tends to want to force love interests in everything and some stories, just don't need them.  John Constantine is a character fighting a bigger battle with ties to both heaven and hell, he doesn't need a love interest. Both John and Chas investigated ...

Future MMA postings

I know I don't write too much on MMA , since this site focuses more on other things like Horror films, things on television and some video game insights.  However, I do love the sport and have been a practicing martial artist half my life so I do follow it the way most people follow traditional sports like football or baseball, any future postings for Mixed Martial Arts will be on a sports web-site called Last Word on Sports.  It covers almost every sport you might be interested in and my writing for anything MMA in the future will be there .  Please pay them a visit, if you watch it and consider it a sport, it's on there. ***Update*** The site and I no longer are working together so MMA posts are back here***

'Hell on Wheels' 5th Season Is The Last

Photo by James Minchin III/ AMC.com This show does not get written about often enough.  It is a great show that follows Cullen Bohannan played by Anson Mount during the Reconstruction era following the Civil War in America.  It follows his journey in helping with westward expansion of the US and hard life that comes with building a nation. The finale of the fourth season aired this past weekend and it was announced that it would be renewed for a fifth and final season that will follow the formula AMC used for Breaking Bad . Splitting its final season over a two year span with a total of 14 episodes. According to Entertainment Weekly  : " We look forward to appropriately honoring  Hell on Wheels  in this final season. Enormous thanks to the terrific writers, cast and crew for all they have achieved and for all that lies ahead in the Wild West." said AMC president Charlie Collier." This last season saw the deaths of a a lot of characters that were ...

Constantine Episode 5

Photo from NBC.com   Pappa midnight returned in this episode.  Performing what he thought was the good deed of putting people in touch with lost loved ones. He would soon find out otherwise. The dead are rising to haunt the realm of the living in last Friday's Constantine.   When John comes to Poppa Midnight territory to let him know his magic isn't working the way it should.  They have to work together to resolve the issue and soon uncover there is more danger to come.  Midnight warns John that someone may not be what they seem and he would soon be betrayed.  Could he be referring to Zed? I hope so, she's really not that interesting.  The show could stand alone with John and Chas handling the monster of the week.  If she turns out to be bad that would be good. If the show fails it could be because of her weird performances.  We'll see how it goes, it's only 6 episodes in and they have already halted production at 13.  Ma...

Pushbullet app

From Pushbullet blog . I don't normally do app reviews but, when I do it's because they're awesome.  I first downloaded Pushbullet simply for the screen mirroring feature.  It's nice to know when you really need to pick up your phone or if it can wait especially if you're working on something.  Since, they have added so much more I have to give credit where credit is due. With the browser extension you can respond to and send text messages.  That helps when you're working on something you really can't pull away from.  A pop-up comes up and lets you communicate that way without stopping to pick up your phone. Another nice feature is the actual "pushes".  You can push notes, links, image files and anything else you need to see later or on another device with the extension and app.  If you're looking at a site not displaying properly on your phone, simply push it to the browser associated with the profile.  The pushes go both ways and th...

Metamoris 5 Results

Photo from Metamoris.com With the increasing number of  retired MMA fighters competing in the submission only grappling tournament known as Metamoris .  The events are drawing more talent from active MMA competitors of various promotions.  It is easy to know how they would do in their respective sport but, what happens when they step out of their comfort zone?  Here are the results from Metamoris 5: Zak Maxwell vs Garry Tonon This was the first match of the evening and was no gi.  Both competitors were pretty aggressive going for a finish but Tonon would attempt several heel hooks and eventually finish Maxwell about half way through.  Maxwell, intelligently tapped to a heel hook.  Result: Winner Tonon Vinny Magalhaes vs Matheus Diniz Diniz was an alternate for Magalhaes but there was a 10,000 dollar reward for Diniz if he could finish Magalhaes.  He was definitely trying because he was more active for the bulk of the matc...

We Have A Date With Our Favorite Attorney

AMC announced a premiere date for the first two episodes of the Breaking Bad spin-off, Better Call Saul . The show will premiere on February 8 and 9 as a two part premiere, which fall on a Sunday and Monday. If you have been missing anything related to the world of Walter White you now have a date to look forward to. One of the many T-shirts from the show. The show is supposed to be set six years before Saul becomes Walter White's attorney so maybe we'll get to see how he makes some of his many connections.  One that is confirmed to make an appearance on the show is Saul's "fixer", Mike Erhmantraut played by Jonathan Banks according to AMC.  Anyone else looking forward to this prequel? Who's Watching Constantine?

Photo from NBC.com Four episodes in and so far, it's pretty good.  This show seems to do the comic books more justice in bringing the character of John Constantine to the small screen than the film of the same name did.  It gives you hints of a troubled past, and has a "monster of the week" story style to it which seems to work for ratings.  Just think back to shows like X: Files or look at the recent success of The Flash that follow a similar formula. It comes on after Grimm on Friday nights and that can be gamble for a show to be on Fridays.  The special effects are good and the title character played by Matt Ryan does the show good y playing him more closely to the books he came from.  Keanu Reeves didn't really pull it off in the film and small changes like that can leave a bad taste in the mouths of fans.  Anyone else loving this show?  Episode reviews most likely will follow.

Breaking Bad/Frozen Mash-up

It's gone and it isn't coming back, but fans are still paying tribute to one of the most popular shows that ended.  It is good therapy to get over a show that's gone, and even better for people that watch stuff like this.  Check out the video below:

Is Gotham doing it for you?

I may be alone in this but Gotham on Fox is not really grabbing me.  I know being overly critical to the source material when a good story comes to a new medium can come with fan boy criticism .  However, last nights episode introduced Harvey Dent, AKA Two Face and he is noticeably older than Bruce Wayne. From IGN review of "Harvey Dent" There are a few DC Comic shows on TV now and they seem to be better received than the one Marvel show that serves as a tie in for any Marvel movie.  I think the reason Arrow and The Flash are doing so well is because they do a good job of sticking to the source material from the books or at least reboot it in a way fans enjoy.  Fox seems to have invested a lot in this show so it may last to a second season but I think long time comic fans may stick with the other DC Comic related shows. The Evil Within: Halloween Play Day Review

sleeve on box. I know most reviews here are outdated because I fall behind a lot on keeping up with trending games.  It is because of this I did not get a next generation (now current generation) console.  However, when I saw advertisements for The Evil Within and have been missing a good survival horror game I had to jump on it for the PlayStation 3 this Halloween . Yes, this is a review for the PS3 version so I know people will comment on the graphics but they're not that bad.  The only issue I saw was some blur in losing the crisp edges in some images during cut scenes. The game play is third-person perspective so if you're a fan of first-person shooters where you just run and gun this game will not interest you.  The game consists of stealth, some small puzzle solving, upgrading yourself and your weapons and your survival horror action.  I was not a fan of the camera angles, I'm not sure if they were bad on purpose so as to add to the scare tacti...
