What's On Your Halloween Watch List?

Favorite genres have been mentioned here before as well as all time favorites .  But, what will you watch this Halloween?  Will you run through your all time favorites or will you try a few new ones to add to a new list?   +Netflix  is always a good go to for a lot of choices in horror but how do you know what is worth your time?  Well, the Huffington Post went with a well know name and listed Eli Roth's six favorite or recommended films to watch.  Some I haven't seen so I'm going to check them out but others are ones I have never heard of. Roth's recommendations were: Dust Devil(1992) Hardware (1990) Galaxy of Terror (1981) Ichi the Killer (2001) Nightmare City (1980) I have seen Ichi the Killer and it's not a bad film.  Although I do not know what audio options you'll have on Netflix the subtitled version is probably there. So what will you watch? For the more details on why Roth recommended them follow the link below: The ...

Breaking Bad Toy Ban Offends Breaking Fans...and Jesse

You never know what's going to offend some people.  A woman in Florida got offended by toys being sold that were the likeness of the main characters of one of the most popular shows on recent television Breaking Bad . Some of us really miss the show and deal with our withdrawal in different ways, one of them being to collect stuff about it.  She went as far as to start a petition to ban the toys from being sold and Toys R Us flinched .  Now, they have offended fans of the show that wanted those collectibles as well as one Arron Paul who seems to have started his own petition bases on his recent tweet.  Calm down lady...and let us have our toys! Check it out below: Dear @ToysRUs , We have close to 30,000 signed on the petition, that is 3 times the amount that caused you to remove the toys. Talk to me. How Short Would These Movies Have Been if Cell Phones Existed?

In keeping with the tradition of watching as much horror as I can on my favorite month .  I had the chance to watch two classics and wondered how they might not have been, or at least been very short if cell phone technology existed in the lives of the characters in these films.  The films in particular are Cujo (1983) and Pumkinhead (1988) and if you haven't seen them you should.  If not read ahead with caution because spoilers follow below. Even a brick cell phone from the early 90's would have helped. In Cujo , the point where mother and son are stuck in the car that needs work ,they sit there for a while in the heat because they are in a secluded farm area and have no way to leave the vehicle or out run the rabid dog.  If she had a cell phone she could have just called the police or animal control and Cujo would have been taken care of, end of movie.   In the beginning of Pumkinhead a little boy is hurt by an idioti...

What's your top 10 Horror list like now?

Some other favorites     If you're a fan of horror you should check out the Horror Movies Community on  +Google+  .  There's a lot of links, GIF's, reviews and recommendations for horror films and other media there.  Someone asked the question, "What's your top 10 Horror of 2014?"   Meaning, what's your list like now?  Being a fan of certain genres and story telling styles I never gave it much thought, just added films to the list in my head .  If I did have a top 10, what would it be like now? Well, after much thought this is it after 2014: John Carpenter's   The Thing (1982) The Thing (2011) the above's prequel Cabin in the Woods (2012) Night of the Creeps (1986) Night of the Living Dead (1968) Night of the Living Dead (1990) Creepshow   (1982) Creepshow 2   (1987) A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) Dawn of the Dead  (1978) That's it this year.  Many of these are on  +Netflix  ...

The Fall: The Strain Book 2 review

Kindle Cover photo     Since I finished reading the first  book to prepare for the show on FX I got hooked to the story and continued reading through and just finished book two titled, The Fall .  The show has been good enough to keep my attention and made changes that don't bother so much as it can when a book is turned into another medium.  Regardless of the show, the book series is very intriguing and I'll be starting book three, The Night Eternal this weekend. It picks up where The Strain leaves off and the title, The Fall is fitting since life as people know it is falling apart by this point in the book.  We also get a few new characters whom I'll just name but not spoil anything major for anyone who hasn't read it yet.  The only one memorable and worth mentioning is Angel.  He's a washed up luchador formerly known as "El Angel de Plata" (The Silver Angel) which is fitting since silver hurts all those afflicted with the vampire sickn...

October is Here!

Our favorite month of the year for a few reasons but most notably, Halloween and Horror films.  Also, some interesting releases in games and network TV content happen this time of year.  On TV we have AMC's The Walking Dead as well as their Fearfest happens this month.  It's the best time to catch horror films for all of us horror fans as well as haunted attractions.  The commercial for The Evil Within looks like a good game to get you in the spirit of Halloween and it aired during the finale of The Strain . Have fun this October.  More Horror reviews to come.
