Another Good Show Gone 'Almost Human' Cancelled

Wouldn't it be nice if you controlled your own network?   All the great shows that you found intriguing would have enough seasons that would keep you happy and you wouldn't have to worry about crappy endings when they go.  According to Deadline, one of my favorites on Monday nights has been cancelled . Almost Human which starred Karl Urban and Michael Ealy was a pretty good looking sci fi, buddy cop drama on Fox that only lasted this past season.  It was new and coming on after I thought I was running out of good TV to watch.  Rating was the reason given in the Deadline article but given the special effects I guess the lower than expected rating made it pretty expensive to produce.  Needless to say I liked it a lot and if it gets syndicated or winds up on Netlflix you may want see what was a pretty decent first season in my opinion.  The premiere impressed me enough to follow it weekly from start to finish so it really is too bad i...

Friday the 13th TV Show to look forward to!

No one is an a rush here.  We love the spring and summer almost as much as we love Halloween but after the long winter and plenty of snow days we need a little warmth to hang out in.  After that, when our favorite time of year does come around we may have some company this coming fall. Word on the web according to Deadline , Jason Voorhees is making his way to television this fall and not like that corny 80's version that had nothing to do with Jason.  This is supposed to "r e-imagines Jason in multiple time periods" according to the article.  I think that is a winning formula considering how we like Hannibal and Bates Motel so far.  We know Jason's history but since there's always plenty to tell with all the sequels this may be a better venue for him rather than doing all the rebooting. Deadline described ,"The series is contemporary, focusing on the eclectic characters of Crystal Lake who are forced to confront the return of the killer,...

Potential new show in the fall...to avoid.

Recently I was in Las Vegas and as I was enjoying the sights, a person representing NBC offered me 20 dollars for my opinion an a show that may be part of their fall line up.  If you ever get a chance to do it I recommend you do, not just because you get paid but it's nice to sample something first.  My girlfriend was with me and from what she told me, her show seems interesting but I was not so lucky.  The show I got selected for was called 2 to Go and it was about a circle of very well off friends that had been married, or are getting married leaving the one guy and girl best friends as the only ones left to get married.  They even say it right before the title screen, because who ever wrote the pilot must think viewers are stupid.  Two friends, a same sex couple decide they're going to marry each other and they tease the last two, "Yay, now it's only Two to go!"  and the title crawls across the screen.  I won't bore anyone with any details but I'...

James Hellwig: AKA The Ultimate Warrior 1959-2014

I am a child of the 80's and I think it was probably the best time to grow up in this country, but most people probably say that about their childhoods.  If you are a generation X person like myself, you grew up on GI:JOE , Transformers , He-Man , and Pro Wrestling.  Every Saturday morning, your schedule consisted of your standard Saturday morning cartoons, followed by Pro-Wrestling, followed by Kung-Fu theater and then we went out and did chores and played to work off our sugary cereal. What you played depended on what we saw that day, and one of the most highly motivating figures of that time was The Ultimate Warrior.  This is the guy that took down the seemingly invincible Hulk Hogan at one of the Wrestlemania shows and if you remember his ring entrance, his music, and his persona it made you feel like you could sprint around your block a few times and not be tired.  His matches were fast and furious and it was on par with the way Mike Tyson knocked people out...

Dredd 2 petition?

I didn't know there was a petition for making another Dredd movie but apparently there is one.  I didn't know because I didn't think it was necessary as I thought the first one was pretty freaking good . Between, the Dredd film or films (I hope), and Almost Human I think I'm becoming a fan of Karl Urban's work.  I found out about the petition on line after someone put up a video of Urban thanking people for support.  You can check it out below and follow the link at the end of you think it deserves a sequel like I do.

True Detective in two days. (No spoilers)

This past weekend my girlfriend and I had plans, we were going to grab some sushi in a new sushi place and grab a late showing of Captain America: The Winter Soldier in our local theater.  Dinner ran a little long so we wound up home afterwards and while we were watching TV a commercial came on for an HBO watch-a-thon where users of my cable service could watch their shows for free until Sunday night. We're both fans of Boardwalk Empire so we watched an episode of that, then I saw True Detective and me being a fan of crime fiction said, "let's check that out."  We were hooked after the first episode, our time was limited so our weekend turned into doing our regular chores, she made time for yoga, I made time for Jiu Jitsu and nothing else filled our time except finishing True Detective .  For any readers of graphic novels out there, if you have not seen this you need to.  If you like the work of Grant Morrison, Ed Brubaker, or Jason Aaron you will like the way t...

C'mon son...Psych and other shows ending.

It's spring, the long winter is finally leaving, and  another show I followed for a long time has left us.  Last week, Psych aired its final episode and since its airing I have been re-watching episodes on  +Esquire Network  and started from episode one on  +Netflix  .  This change in seasons is welcome, I get to be outside more, hit the mats more, and spend more time with friends since it's not so hard to get around.  I don't mind shows taking breaks this time of year, but knowing they're never coming back is starting to bother me. Shows getting canceled is one thing, like when Copper got canceled it bothered because they pull the rug out from under us viewers and leave us with no say, it's just done, no goodbye and you move on.  But when something comes to close the way Breaking Bad and Psych did it tends to be a little sad.  The final episode of Psych was really well written, and if you didn't think so I recommend you go ba...
